Job Description

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE
Monday - Friday 
8:00 am - 5:00 pm
$17.68 per hour 
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
 
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all visitors and callers, providing accurate information and excellent customer service.
  • Greet and monitor persons entering facility
  • Maintain the first-floor appearance and stocking supplies.
  • Answer, screen, and route calls on switchboard; respond to inquiries and complaints professionally.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of city departments, services, and locations to direct customers accordingly.
  • Perform general clerical tasks, including data entry, filing, preparing notices, processing forms, and creating documents.
  • Assist with board and commission support, including recruiting, orientation, meeting notices, and appreciation event coordination.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, courier deliveries, and supply orders for multiple departments.
  • Update and post public notices, meeting documents, and digital content on city platforms.
  • Maintain room reservation calendar and submit work orders for meeting setups.
  • Support secretary staff through cross-training, research projects, and continuity of service.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years customer service experience or equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn tools like Adobe, Canva, EERP, CityWorks, Laserfiche, VoteSafe.
  • Proficiency in business English, accurate typing (45+ WPM), and basic math calculations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and over the phone).
  • Ability to handle high call volumes and challenging customer interactions with professionalism.
  • Excellent judgment, accountability, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Capable of working independently under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Valid Class C Texas driver license with satisfactory driving record.
  • Texas Open Meetings Act & Public Information Act certificates within 30 days of hire.
