MOLD DESIGN/TOOLING SPECIALIST

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Design and engineer custom tools, molds, fixtures, and plant equipment for precision urethane and machined components
Perform detailed engineering calculations to optimize tool and mold performance
Oversee the fabrication and testing of prototypes to validate design specifications
Maintain and update CAD drawings for molds, parts, and fixtures
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and develop innovative solutions
Work with manufacturing management using SolidWorks CAD to design customer tooling and components
Provide engineering guidance to support sales, estimating, and manufacturing during project estimating
Provide technical support and guidance to the production team
Monitor and improve the performance of existing tools and molds through continuous improvement initiatives
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–5 years of experience in tool and mold design, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Proficient in SolidWorks CAD and engineering analysis tools
Familiarity with plastics material properties, processing options, and mold construction (preferred but not required)
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and document control
Knowledge of root cause analysis and statistical tools such as 5 Whys, FMEA, DFMEA, and DOE (a plus)
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to manage and deliver results across multiple priorities simultaneously
