JOB SUMMARY
The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for general maintenance and repairs of facilities and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and groundskeeping. This role ensures the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of all assigned building systems and outdoor areas.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform general repairs, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, drywall, painting, and door repairs.
- Inspect equipment, systems, and work areas to identify and resolve maintenance issues.
- Read and interpret blueprints, building plans, and manuals to determine the best repair solutions.
- Conduct preventative maintenance for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and irrigation systems.
- Perform routine groundskeeping duties, including mowing, trimming, watering, and maintaining lawns, trees, plants, and flower beds.
- Operate maintenance equipment such as tractors, mowers, chainsaws, and power tools.
- Maintain sidewalks, parking lots, and other outdoor features, including general cleaning and snow removal.
- Complete carpentry tasks, including constructing, maintaining, or modifying building fixtures and facilities with quality workmanship.
- Restore work areas to their original condition by removing debris and returning furnishings or equipment.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning, maintenance supplies, and tools; order materials as needed.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained, inspected, and repaired as necessary.
- Adhere to safety protocols, using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following standard procedures.
- Assist with general cleaning and upkeep of indoor and outdoor facilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Thorough knowledge of general plumbing, electrical, HVAC repair, and basic carpentry.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and repair manuals.
- Proficient use of hand tools and power tools.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Good verbal communication and ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Strong organizational, time management, and independent work skills.
- Basic understanding of groundskeeping and landscaping operations.
- Ability to operate various types of landscaping and maintenance equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers).
- Welding skills preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in facility maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in awkward spaces, crawl, and bend as needed.
- Full range of motion for operating manual and power tools.
