Responsible for installing, assembling, dismantling, and cleaning machinery, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
Transport and locate machines and equipment to the desired location as directed using forklifts, hoists, winches, cranes, and other equipment.
Disassemble & assemble machines or equipment from their component parts.
Must understand how a machine functions to assemble and disassemble it properly; this may involve knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, and computer systems.
Use complex instruction books that detail the assembly of the machinery and use tools such as levels, welding machines, and torque wrenches.
Uses micrometers and other precision measuring devices to achieve the extreme tolerances required and determine appropriate fits for bearings and seals.
On large projects, the use of cranes is common.
Other items deemed necessary by management.
Understand and operate within the procedures and guidelines for company.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must have own tools
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Four (4) years of documented experience as a Millwright/Industrial mechanic
Ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to work any shift and work overtime, including daily, weekends and holidays as required
Basic knowledge of mathematics, algebra, and physics
Ability to work from layout plans, blueprints, drawings, or other specifications to determine work procedures
Ability and knowledge to dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
Ability and knowledge in welding including arc, acetylene
Ability to properly move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
Ability and knowledge to properly use tools and equipment such as drill presses, power saws, chain falls, jacks, skids, slings, burning torches, and other types of portable and hand tools
Ability to clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery
Ability to lift and or move up to 50 pounds
Perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to provide mechanical support to locate and diagnose trouble in mechanical systems or equipment
Ability to complete required preventive maintenance at defined intervals on all mechanical equipment
Ability to perform tasks historically assigned to other mechanical classifications (i.e., Pipefitter, Machine Repair)
Centrifuge experience is an asset
Journey-level skill and knowledge as a Millwright/Industrial mechanic.
