Job Description

MATERIAL HANDLER
Monday - Friday 
7:00 am - 3:00 pm 
$20.40 per hour
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 
 
  • Coordinate and expedite the flow of materials and finished products between supply chain, warehouse, packaging, and production departments according to production and shipping schedules.
  • Review production schedules and communicate with department supervisors to determine material requirements, identify overdue materials, and track material status.
  • Supply materials to departments and establish sequential delivery dates based on job order priorities and material availability.
  • Examine materials delivered to production departments to verify they meet required specifications.
  • Arrange in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules through the BAAN system.
  • Calculate material quantities needed to complete job orders using knowledge of product and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain accurate manual or computerized records such as inventory logs, in-process production reports, and material status/locations.
  • Move or transport materials between departments manually or using material-handling equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate delivery dates with suppliers to optimize warehouse space and receiving resources.
  • Ensure inventory racks (including gravity flow racks in the warehouse and packaging area) are clean, organized, and functioning properly daily.
  • Work closely with the Production Scheduler/Raw Material Supervisor to maintain accurate on-hand inventory and ensure timely, correct inventory movements in support of production needs.
  • Meet all HACCP, BRC, and FSMA requirements.
  • Practice and uphold Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs); ensure annual GMP training for all supervised employees.
  • Maintain assigned areas in a sanitary, safe, and orderly condition daily.
  • Follow all safety procedures and report any food safety, physical safety, environmental, or equipment concerns to supervisors.
  • Ensure accurate material inventory counts and perform physical counts with reconciliation to theoretical inventories in the BAAN system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS 
 
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in inventory movement.
  • High School Diploma/GED required; some college coursework preferred.
  • Working knowledge of purchasing, inventory, and scheduling in a food manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a sit-down forklift test prior to interviewing with the hiring manager.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
