LASER PROGRAMMER & FABRICATION SPECIALIST

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop, edit, and optimize laser cutting and punching programs using CAD/CAM software (NC Express, Prima Power 3D CAM, or similar).
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to determine laser and punch job requirements.
- Create efficient nesting layouts to maximize material usage and reduce scrap.
- Set up, operate, and support Prima Power laser and punch equipment to ensure accurate and timely production.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and report equipment issues; assist with overall site maintenance at PSM Texas.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to ensure parts meet quality standards.
- Collaborate with the Production Manager, Lead Laser/Punch Operator, Shipping, and other teams to improve workflow and resolve production issues.
- Support quoting and estimating by providing cutting times and material usage; assist sales and order entry using QuickBooks.
- Help implement and maintain inventory control for raw materials used in laser and punch operations.
- Assist with establishing and participating in the PSM Texas safety program and safety meetings.
- Provide occasional production support, including pulling and packaging orders, loading trucks, and forklift operation as needed.
- Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work area.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Hands-on experience programming laser and/or punch equipment is required (Prima Power experience strongly preferred).
- Experience with NC Express software highly preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks or similar).
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Working knowledge of CNC principles and sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Forklift experience or willingness to be trained.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with heat, noise, dust, and moving equipment.
- Occasional after-hours, emergency, or call-out work may be required.
