MECHANIC
Monday - Friday
7:00 am – 3:00 pm
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs repairs and preventative maintenance checks and services in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Employs applicable test, measuring, and diagnostic equipment in conjunction with technical publications and prior knowledge to diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Troubleshoots to component level.
- Isolates and identifies causes of malfunctions.
- Operates vehicles and equipment for diagnosis and inspection purposes.
- Interprets complex schematic diagrams.
- Aligns and adjusts assemblies and components so equipment is functioning within prescribed limits and tolerances.
- Assists and conducts “on the job” training for Class C Service Technician.
- Determines proper tools and equipment to be used for assigned maintenance tasks.
- Performs basic oxyacetylene cutting and welding.
- Responsible to possess and use necessary hand tools for assigned tasks, to include special tools used for adjustments on components, i.e., adjustments on valves, injections, etc.
- Obtains replacement parts and turns in unserviceable parts to parts section while adhering to policies and required procedures.
- Reads, understands, and applies information contained in company maintenance manuals, technical manuals, and policies.
- Knows and applies required company safety procedures.
- Completes applicable maintenance forms and records.
- Familiar with air conditioning (A/C) systems and their theory of operations, along with servicing repairs
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver’s license with a clear MVR for 5 years
- Must possess safety boots
- Ability to read detailed technical manuals
- Capable in operating forklift/powered truck
- Through knowledge of all truck/trailer component operations, diagnose engine, transmission, axle, and electrical failures/malfunctions
- Repair or replace all components on an engine and tractor/trailer
- Repair air conditioning systems with little or no assistance
- Use flame cutting and welding equipment and may perform arc-welding
- Knowledge of basic electronics and able to diagnose electronic component malfunctions
- High School diploma or equivalent (not necessary but is preferred) also must possess Freon Certification, Annual Inspection Certification and Brake Inspection Certification.
