MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

$24.00 - $30.00 per hour
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Design and develop tooling, molds, fixtures, and components to support production operations.
- Collaborate with production and management teams to design customer tooling and components using SolidWorks CAD software.
- Provide technical input and design expertise during project estimation phases to assist sales, estimating, and production teams.
- Create, revise, and maintain accurate engineering drawings and documentation for molds, parts, fixtures, and assemblies.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and reliability in manufacturing operations.
- Support troubleshooting and problem-solving activities related to tooling and manufacturing processes.
- Ensure all designs adhere to company standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, tooling, or molding environment preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software (required).
- Knowledge of plastic materials, molding processes, and tooling design principles (preferred).
- Familiarity with mold design, construction, and maintenance is a plus.
- Understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and design control.
- Experience with root cause analysis and tools such as DOE, 5 Whys, FMEA, or DFMEA beneficial.
