PLANT NURSERY SUPERVISOR
Waller, Texas
Direct Hire Position
7:30 am - 4:00 pm or
7:00 am - 5:00 pm and
Saturday
7:00 am- 1:00 pm
7:30 am - 3:30 pm
$50,000 per year
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Work closely with the Senior Grower and Planner to carry out and oversee the potting work schedules in accordance to the Demand Plan
- Organizes and monitors the execution of the monthly potting schedule
- Sorts schedule for maximum efficiency
- Coordinate with the growing team on proper potting depth and layout in the field
- Monitor, improve and report daily productivity, quality and safety metrics
- Improves and develops production protocols for high quality standards for consistently hitting monthly goals
- Research and implement new production techniques
- Planting techniques- root pruning, planting space
- Lean management techniques
- Belt speed for increased productivity
- Constant care and monitoring of potting facility and equipment for optimum safety and machine performance
- Manages soil, fertilizer and pot inventories
- Orders soil and fertilizer as need to execute monthly plans
- Sends Bi- monthly pot inventory updates to Purchases
- Develops and manages yearly operating budgets for the potting department
- Develop and train as part of the succession planning process
- Perform daily/weekly/ monthly machine maintenance and calibration checks
- Interact/communicate with a dedicated, knowledgeable, well organized grower team
- Manager a team of up 15 employees
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 2 years of production line experience or related manufacturing line/process experience with a proven ability to execute and supervise a team.
- Potting experience a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required
- Ability to drive tractors, skid steers, and other heavy equipment
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Production/horticulture experience preferred
