Job Description

SAFETY SPECIALIST 
Monday - Friday 
8:00 am - 5:00 pm
$60,000 - $70,000 per hour, DOE
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 
 
  • Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Ensures completion of required OSHA record keeping and reporting.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Establishes onboarding process and safety training sessions for all site employees and is the process owner for all employee-related safety training.
  • Maintain and update all Driver Qualification Files. 
  • Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
  • Ensures EHS programs for contractor oversight and management are in place and effective.
  • Participate in review and approval process of new raw materials for R&D and production.
  • Lead the emergency response team for any emergency including- first aid and spills.
  • Prepare and maintain records of all drug and alcohol tests. 
  • Reviews accident and incident reports.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS 
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required.
  • At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required.
  • Safety Certification (SMS, OHST, CIT, ASP, CSP, etc.) preferred.  Knowledge of process safety a plus.
  • DOT, Hazmat experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA, DOT and TCEQ regulations
  • 3 to 7 years of Manufacturing experience in a safety role with progressing responsibility and demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
