JOB SUMMARY
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the daily operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. This includes performing tests, maintaining equipment, and submitting reports to ensure the plant operates within all TCEQ regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform daily sample tests and monitor chlorine levels.
- Collect and deliver samples to a TCEQ-accredited lab for testing.
- Complete and submit monthly and annual reports to TCEQ.
- Ensure that all permits and licenses are current and compliant with TCEQ regulations.
- Assist with the renewal of the 5-year Wastewater Treatment Permit.
- Operate equipment to dump sludge into drying beds; rake, collect, and dispose of dry sludge.
- Schedule vendor pick-up for sludge containers and manage necessary paperwork.
- Arrange for chlorine pick-up and delivery.
- Clean and maintain lift stations, ensuring their smooth operation.
- Perform wastewater taps and ensure all plant operations meet TCEQ rules, laws, and regulations.
- Meet with TCEQ representatives for inspections and promptly resolve any violations.
- Participate in on-call rotation to address emergency situations.
- Assist other departments when necessary.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Wastewater Treatment Operator “C” License.
- Applicant must live within 20 minutes of the plant for on-call response time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to operate vehicles and heavy equipment, including a backhoe, loader, skid steer, and VacTruck.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations.
- Ground Water Operator License Class C or higher.
